A Son of Colombia Pursues His Dreams.
Un hijo de Colombia persigue sus sueños.
Montez Birding Colombia was founded by Andrés Felipe Jímenez Quintero. "Felipe", as many like to call him, was born and raised in Medellín, Colombia. His passion for bird watching and the environment began as a child in the Scouts, where he camped and toured rural areas in the department of Antioquia. Upon graduating from the National University of Colombia, where he studied Biological Engineering, Felipe became a forest ranger in the Amazon Rainforest, studying plants and birds. He has been part of important research in the Amazon and was hired as a botanist and researcher by notable organizations such as the Amazon Institute of Scientific Research SINCHI.
Felipe has a deep passion for community engagement. He has worked as a volunteer for organizations such as the Department of Antioquia in the environment secretariat of Medellín, Colombia's National Parks of the Amazon, and the Humboldt Institute in the Department of Meta. He is a scientific researcher and resident artist at HERO Theatre, where he has been able to connect his passion for science with the arts. He is also a nature photographer, and his photographs have been published by the Smithsonian.
Felipe travels throughout Colombia and Latin America extensively, studying birds. His home base is in Bogotá, where he lives with his wife, Elisa, and their cat, Miles.

Montez Birding Colombia fue fundada por Andrés Felipe Jímenez Quintero. "Felipe", como muchos gustan llamarlo, nació y creció en Medellín, Colombia. Su pasión por la observación de aves y el medio ambiente comenzó cuando era niño en el movimiento Scouts donde acampaba y recorría las zonas rurales en el departamento de Antioquia. Al graduarse de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, donde estudió Ingeniería Biológica, Felipe se convirtió en guardabosques en la selva amazónica estudiando las plantas y las aves. Ha formado parte de importantes investigaciones en la Amazonía y fue contratado como botánico e investigador por notables organizaciones como el Instituto Amazónico de Investigaciones Científicas SINCHI.
Felipe tiene una profunda pasión por la participación comunitaria y ha trabajado como voluntario para el Departamento de Antioquia en la secretaría de medio ambiente de Medellín, Parques Nacionales Naturales de Colombia en el Amazonas y el Instituto Humboldt en el departamento del Meta. Es investigador científico y artista residente en HERO Theatre, donde ha podido conectar su pasión por la ciencia con las artes. También es un fotógrafo de naturaleza y sus fotografías han sido publicadas por el Smithsonian.
Felipe viaja extensamente por Colombia y América Latina observando las aves del territorio. Su base de operaciones está en Bogotá, donde vive con su esposa, Elisa, y su gato, Miles.
